CAEN codes: choosing them without getting your file rejected
CAEN codes state what your company does. Choosing badly is the leading cause of file rejection, and since revision 3 many numbers circulating online no longer exist.

In practice you work with one primary code and up to eight secondary ones.
The primary code classifies the business and can determine which licences apply.
Mind revision 3
Many codes were renumbered. Custom software development is no longer 6201 but 6210; building construction moved to 4100; restaurants to 5611.
Lists floating around online often stop at the previous revision — filing with them means filing non-existent codes.
How to choose well
Start from the activity that will generate most of your revenue and make it primary. Add as secondary only what you'll genuinely do.
Padding the list 'just in case' doesn't help: some activities require licences and complicate registration.
Regulated activities
Some codes need licences, professional qualifications or health approvals. Check before filing, not after.
Changing codes later is possible but means a registry amendment.
