Registered office in Romania: how it works and what it costs
Every Romanian company must declare a registered office. It is not a formality: without the right document the file gets rejected.
The four routes
Ownership: your own property, with the land registry extract. Free loan: a relative grants the space, with a contract. Lease: you present the tenancy agreement. Hosting: a provider gives you the address.
All routes need the consent of whoever controls the property, and blocks of flats sometimes require the association's approval.
When hosting makes sense
If you don't live in Romania, or you work remotely and need no physical space. It runs about €120 a year, contract generated and filed with the rest.
It is the fastest route: no negotiation, no documents to chase from third parties.
What changes for tax
The office sets the competent tax office and sometimes local taxes. It doesn't change the corporate rate, but it changes day-to-day administration.
If you operate somewhere else, that place is declared separately as a working point.
Duration and renewal
Hosting contracts usually run for a year, renewable. Watch the expiry: a lapsed office puts the company out of order at the registry.
